Description
This wheelchair was put in the garage 10 years ago, when it was no longer required. I dug it out during a clear-out and it has suffered with lying so long. It had been secured by car elastics and they were tied too tightly, which as resulted to damage on one armrest particularly. One of the tyres on the large wheels has a chunk missing and has a tear also.
Obviously, the wheelchair needs a service and some parts replacing, but, as it stands it is still serviceable. I have tried my best to show in the photos exactly how much damage there is and how much is still in reasonably good order.
The wheelchair is not one of the aluminium lightweight designs. It is quite heavy, but it does fold and can be stowed in a car boot, as it often was while in use. It is not the self-propelled design.
The chair was made by Remploy and is a sturdy example of their work. It has been all around the USA. We purchased it because we were reluctant to ask for an NHS wheelchair to take abroad (see below). This chair must be picked up by the purchaser. I will take offers. I know that the parts that need replacing can be purchased online.
"Q. Can I take my NHS wheelchair abroad?
The Wheelchair Service do not recommend that you do. If you do take your wheelchair abroad, you must make sure that you are covered by insurance for any damage during transportation or incidents that could happen while you are away. "
