Description

Tweeddale Youth Action is the lead organisation for youth-work provision in Tweeddale. We offer 12-25 year olds in Peebles, Innerleithen and surrounding area a safe alternative to hanging around the streets. Through youth clubs in Peebles and Innerleithen we aim to provide relevant, meaningful activities in a fun and safe environment.

Through funding from the Scottish Government’s Social Isolation And Loneliness Fund, administered by Voluntary Action Fund, we will shortly begin our Make it Happen! project to offer 1:1 and group support for young people that are at risk of being isolated. To deliver this project we are looking to recruit a part time co-ordinator with experience of working with at risk young people and liaising with statutory organisations and stakeholders.

Make it happen! Co-ordinator job description

As TYA’s Make it happen co-ordinator you will support young people who are at risk of social isolation and loneliness to access wider opportunities, develop new skills and forge new friendships. Through experience of working with young people and a thorough understanding of GIRFEC you will work in partnership with statutory agencies from education, health, social work and police to identify young people in need of support. You will deliver support and advice for young people through group work and 1:1 support sessions.

Essential skills
Experience of working within a school environment and a thorough understanding of GIRFEC
Experience of working in partnership with statutory agencies
Experience of offering advice and support to young people experiencing emotional distress that impacts on their mental health and well being
Experience of working in 1:1 and group work environments
Excellent communication skills
Full driving licence with access to a car

Desirable skills
IT skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports

Salary is £16,429 per annum for 25 hours per week (£23,000 pro rata) and the post will finish at the end of June 2017
