Hot Air Balloon crew wanted
Description
Reliable crew wanted to help with hot-air balloon company based in Glastonbury. The job involves meeting the pilot at the storage yard, checking the balloon, driving the balloon to one of the launchsites (including Glastonbury, Shaftesbury, Taunton, and Tiverton), greeting the passengers, helping with the balloon inflation, then driving the vehicle and trailer to follow the balloon as it flies away. At the end of the flight, finding the farmer, liaising with the minibus company, helping to pack away and load the balloon back onto the trailer, driving back to Glastonbury and helping to ensure that the balloon is ready for the next flight.
We have around 10 flights per week planned. These take place around 6am and 6pm, and meeting time at the yard is around 1-2 hours before the flight. Depending on the take-off location, each "session" lasts between four and seven hours. However, this activity is extremely weather dependant, so although there are 10 flights planned each week, somewhere between zero and five of them will actually happen. This decision is made at 10pm the night before for morning flights, and three hours before the flight for evening flights.
You will be given training in balloon operations and safety. You must be reliable, should be fairly fit (some lifting/pulling to be done), have a clean UK licence and have experience towing. The season ramps down in September (fewer flights) and finishes in Oct/Nov.
This job tends to suit casual workers, people taking early retirement who wish to top-up their pension, mature students studying for a degree, or those with a fairly loose schedule in their lives, or you!
Payment is per flight, and you would be considered to be self-employed.
If you think that this is for you, then drop me an email and let's see where we go from there.
